Your Sensei will be your mentor to assist you.
Recommended training per week is:
Buki waza (weapons training) 60 minutes
Taijutsu (open handed training) 120 minutes
NOTE: Initially shorter training sessions are recommended as a means to correctly study individual techniques and to reduce the risk of injury due to over training. Ideally you will progress toward training in one-hour blocks per an Iwama Ryu Aikido dojo.
What you need to train.
A device with camera and internet connectivity
Resources have been designed for mobile (cell) phones and PC’s. They have been designed so you can take the resources “on to the mat” to directly use within your training.
Ideally a training partner, but you can start on your own.
Aikido is an interactive process. However, you can start your study on your own – we can assist you with this.
Equipment.
You do not need equipment or a uniform (gi) initially, but will require this at some point.
To start – wear loose fitting clothing without belts, buckles, zippers or anything that could harm you or your partner.
Use a carpeted area if you do not have mats.
Weapons – you can start with a broom stick or similar to commence training in weapons. However, it is better that you access an AIKI-KEN and AIKI-JO as soon as possible.
More details for distance training are provided within the Online Training Guide.
